Honey Barrel Cottage Stiffkey North Norfolk Coast Sand Stiffkey Marsh
oney Barrel Cottage consists of the following accommodation and facilities:

The dining/day room is the entrance to the cottage, this room immediately feels welcoming.

wood burning stove

It faces due south and the sun streams in making it a lovely day room. There is a large reclaimed pine table and antique pine chairs and settle. There is a wood burning stove stands in one corner adding a lovely atmosphere on winter evenings.

The sitting room is snug and very comfortable with the original stripped pine beamed ceiling and comfortable seating. One wall is dominated by a massive brick fireplace (discovered during the renovation) housing a ‘Clearview’ wood burning stove. Logs are supplied and there is always a dry, plentiful supply in the boat shed. Although the recently installed central heating is extremely efficient, the wood burning stove is just too tempting to resist and creates a wonderful atmosphere.

kitchen

The window sills are rough sawn wood and made from planks that were used to separate barrels of honey in the cargo holds of sailing ships (hence the cottage name!).

The kitchen has a pamment tiled floor and is semi-fitted, with the loose furniture being of antique pine. There is a double oven, microwave, butlers sink and full range of equipment.

The ground floor bathroom has a bath with shower over, WC and wash basin. It also contains a washer/dryer.

Bedrooms A steep staircase leads from the sitting room to a

small landing off which are two bedrooms. Each room has a double bed and rich honey coloured stripped pine floorboards. Crisp sheets, duvets and large fluffy towels are included and the beds are made up on your arrival.

Outside The dining/day room opens onto a small patio with garden furniture and a barbecue provided. The courtyard garden is completely enclosed and is a wonderful sun trap. There is a large boat shed for storage of logs, garden equipment, bikes, etc.

Please remember that we are always available for local advice and information. We have a boat building and barge charter business in Morston, 2 miles away and can arrange the hire of a sturdy 12’ dinghy with outboard motor (suitable for 4 adults) and life jackets if you wish to explore the waters of Blakeney Harbour (some experience is necessary). Please ask if you require details of boat hire and tide times, etc. We can also offer advice on organising sailing tuition. There is a comprehensive information book in the cottage which lists the best places to eat, describes the various beaches and gives advice on local shopping, sites to visit, etc.
